Fr Ernie Deslippe (FED) Scholarship                           2024

FED Scholarship Requirements as of 2024

  • All applicants must be a practicing Roman Catholic from the Elgin County Roman Catholic Family of Parishes (letter from your parish priest required).

  • All applicants must have attended a Secondary School (Catholic, Public, Private or Emersion) in the past two years.  Letter of proof required from the Secondary School along with recent marks.

  • Applicants should be the child of a father or grandchild of a grandfather who is a member in good standing of Fr. Ernie Deslippe Council 1467 or a deceased member. (Applications from students who are not related to a member or deceased member of the Knights of Columbus will also be accepted).

  • Complete applications must include a current Ontario Student Status Form.

  • Applicants must be accepted by a University, College, or any recognized Trade School.  A copy of the acceptance letter must be provided. Proof of Registration and initial payment of tuition fees must be provided before issuance of the scholarship.

  • Applicants are strongly encouraged to highlight their Academic achievements and voluntarism in School, Parish, Council 1467, and Community activities.

  • Applicants are also to write a typed essay of approx. 500 words (650 max) on one of the following topics: 1. How God reflects on your life, your life goals and family life or 2. How can you be faithful to God, Community and Family. Videos are not accepted. Essays completed using AI will be detected and rejected. The file should be converted to a PDF file for submission.

  • Completed applications must be received by Council 1467 via council.1467@gmail.com or dropped of at the main office at St Joseph’s High School by the June 9th midnight in the year the applicant is graduating from Secondary School.  Applications received after the deadline shall not be accepted.

  • It is important to look at FED Scholarship Guidelines document for further instructions.

  • The successful applicant awarded the Fr. Ernie Deslippe Scholarship will be contacted at the latest July 1st in the year the application was submitted.
